rural communities in my district that have been hit incredibly hard. people have lost their homes and their livelihoods. so for the resources that it takes to recover from a storm like this and attend to a presidential detail, it is incredible. i know the governor was out with some of the communities that were hit hardest. we have all been boots on the ground. it's a tough time for our area and behind me there is a disaster zone left in the wake of hurricane idalia. i'm less concerned about what biden wants to do to try to make up for his lack of action in east palestine and maui and other districts but more concerned getting our district back on their feet. >> julie: how are fema funds kicking in? that's huge importance for people who return to nothing. their homes are rubble and now they have to rebuild from the ground up. >> you know, it's really hard right now, julie.

until last thursday, the 31st of august, to turn over detailed information about biden's pseudonym emails. the agency did cooperate by forwarding on the information to the president himself. a spokesperson for house oversight committee says the committee has spoken with the national archives about comer's request. the national archives officials indicated they have sent some of the records to representatives for former president obama and joe biden for their approval to be released. president biden promised the most transparent administration in history. we expect him to approve the release of those records. however, a source for the national archives tells fox there were certain restrictions in the freedom of information act process for issues such as national security and law enforcement and beyond that hurdle emails from the biden vice presidency still fall under the presidential records act from the obama administration. as we mentioned last week a

8:22 am
that reveals exactly who joe biden is. >> rich: we're at a point now where house republicans have been in this investigation for several months, several years now, a few years now, there is no direct link. but still having this relationship where you've got what republicans say is money going to family members doesn't look good. >> not only does it not look good but there is circumstantial evidence. for example, hunter biden was texting with his sister saying essentially i have to give 50% of my income to dad, to the vice president. and that is a meaningful piece of information, a piece of evidence in this overall scheme, it appears, where hunter biden is getting a million dollars a year, equivalent from burisma. he is getting several million dollars from the wife of the former mayor of moscow and then there is a dinner that followed that between vice president biden and this individual.
8:23 am
so there is a lot of smoke and a lot of things, a lot of circumstantial evidence. as a former prosecutor i can tell you these are where you want to dig in and ultimately i'm not sure we will ever have the smoking gun, the direct evidence where joe biden admits that this was the scheme. but to me the points of the connections are being made right now as we speak. >> rich: do you think that republicans given in the conference there are a number of republicans calling for an impeachment inquiry, is that pre-mature at this point since we don't have that evidence? >> the last i heard from speaker mccarthy is that he is going to take a vote on the impeachment inquiry to see if he can get the 218. if you think about that caucus and how you have folks that are very much would vote right now to make that happen and others that are maybe a little more rest taint. i'm sure sure there are 218 members of the house that will vote for that. if that's the case it is not

>> julie: video captures the moment a would be thief was chased out a jewelry store in california. this after he bear sprayed employees who gave him a beatdown. christina coleman is live in los angeles with more. i love the ending of this story, christina. >> i do, too. i want to warn our audience footage of this attempted robbery is graphic. on saturday in broad daylight a man dressed in all black wearing a donald trump mask whips out bear spray and fires it directly into the face of a man sitting outside a jewelry store just east of l.a. the guy goes inside the family-owned business and starts smashing a glass display with a

hammer. the family members who own the store tried to stop him. the owner of the business says during this terrifying moment she thought more thieves would bust into the store like so many smash and grabs we've seen in california. only one suspect in this case. this guy who blasted bear spray into the face of multiple people as he tried to steal jewelry from this family-owned business. >> he sprayed bear spray to my dad and uncle and brother. i didn't know what do to. it was chile on your body. >> the staff used a stick to beat the guy and punched and kicked him trying to keep their hard-earned maryland in endsing up in the hands of this thief. the man's shirt gets ripped off as he breaks away. take a look at that. just a mess. the guy runs off empty-handed

with his pants falling down. staff says the guy browseed through the store three weeks earlier. security footage helpful to the investigation. unfortunately this suspect is still on the loose. julie. >> julie: thank you very much, christina. >> rich: youth crime getting out of control in the nation's capital. d.c. enforcing the juvenile curfew. two teens were killed and a third hospitalized after being shot. major retailers also feeling the effects of crime in d.c. giant grocery stores here removed brands like advil, colgate and tide from their shelves. the company's president says we want to be able to continue to serve the community but we can't do so at the level of significant loss or risk to our associates that we have today. jason rantz, seattle talk radio host has a new book what's killing america. here in d.c. you see store eaves

on a daily basis where police are looking for suspect in armed robberies, carjackings, 17, 16, 13 years old. what is going on? >> we're seeing this not just in d.c. but all around the country where there is very clearly a surge in juvenile crime. sometimes not just stealing but sometimes it is carjacking, armed carjacking, sometimes murder. why we are seeing this three main reasons. we had 2 1/2 years of demonizing police. teenagers saw that. when you don't have a respect for law enforcement it makes it easier to commit crimes. we do not punish juvenile criminals. they promise to go into a group therapy session that they don't actually have to go to and they end up getting off scot-free. number three something we don't talk about at all is we still have broken families. we still have a problem with broken families in this country. when you are -- when you are a

boy and don't have a strong father figure in your household, you don't have someone to look up to, statistically you're on a higher path of going down this potential pathway than otherwise you would. i think that's something that we generally don't talk about anymore. >> rich: here in d.c. you have a push by a number of people in law enforcement saying you have to start trying some of these teenagers as adults. the other side of the coin that says you can't put 15-year-olds in prison and get them started and set them up for the rest of their life. how do you balance all of that? >> i totally agree with that. the problem is we're holding that position for kids who are violent, who are using guns, who are actually shooting or stabbing people. that's the difference. i don't think anyone has an appetite to throw a kid in jail because he stole a butter finger from a 7/11. when are you involved in a shooting or armed theft.
8:55 am
you can get justice. we have to step back and say is it worth the risk that we fail in saving this kid who has already proven to the dangerous at the expense of your everyday citizen who could be a kid ends up getting shot and killed by one of these people. >> rich: a lot of violent crime has gone down in major cities in the northeast part of the country. not the case here. what has seattle been like? are you the epicenter for a long time in 2020, the chop district and all that. has there been an improvement in seattle? what are we seeing there? >> we see violent crime on the rise. we're at 54 deaths as of this morning, homicides. last year we were at 56. so we're going to exceed last year. we'll go to likely at this pace exceed our record high 69 that was done back in 1994 because of how many murders that were happening every month. we have a depleted police department. it makes sense there are criminals taking advantage of

this. and yet we have no democrat leader -- i point out democrats. they are the ones in charge -- standing up and saying we have a crisis, here is a plan. we hear from the mayor who says i will talk about coming up with my plan at some point in the near future. doesn't actually follow through. we have cops just completely understaffed. >> rich: all right. jason rantz, thank you for joining us this afternoon. very much appreciate it. >> appreciate it. thank you. >> rich: here we are. labor day weekend get your travel done. we'll hang local. >> julie: another holiday spent together. let's not bury the lead here once again i get to enjoy a holiday with you. >> rich: i think we started the summer and now we'll end it. put a bow on it. >> julie: absolutely. always great to work with you. one day we'll be in the same studio hopefully. >> rich: sounds good.
